Feb 16, 2010 Years and years ago, Micro Focus used to make a Cobol compiler for the Mac. This was WAY before OS X - probably back in the System 7 days. The product has long since been discontinued. They have other Unix/Linux based products (Server Express, etc), but as far as I know, they don't run under OS X.
- Dec 23, 2011 The location of backslash (and any letter, symbol etc.) depends on the active keyboard layout. In order to find where is located a desired char, activate the keyboard viewer (in sys prefs/keyboard), open it (it is where the keyboard layouts are), and beging to press keys, including option and shift, in order to find its location.
- Jan 11, 2021 On keyboards made for Windows PCs, use the Alt key instead of Option, and the Windows logo key instead of Command. Some keys on some Apple keyboards have special symbols and functions, such as for display brightness, keyboard brightness, Mission Control, and more.
- Tons of awesome macOS wallpapers to download for free. You can also upload and share your favorite macOS wallpapers. HD wallpapers and background images.
- Apr 17, 2021 Apricity OS may not be exactly like macOS but it does have a slightly similar feel. Its GNOME based clean user interface and beautiful icon themes make it a stunning looking Linux distribution. MacOS lookalike or not, if one day you want to switch to the ‘Arch domain', do consider Apricity OS among your options.
Every major version of Mac OS X macOS has come with a new default wallpaper. As you can see, I have collected them all here.
While great in their day, the early wallpapers are now quite small in the world of 5K and 6K displays.

10.0 Cheetah & 10.1 Puma
The first two releases of Mac OS X shared the same wallpaper. The sweeping blue arcs and curves helped set the tone of the new Aqua interface.

10.2 Jaguar
Red vase mac os. Jaguar took the same Aqua-inspired theme but added some depth and motion to things. In my head, the trails streaking across the screen were from a set of comets.

10.4 Tiger
Many consider Tiger to be the best 'classic' version of Mac OS X. While that may or may not be true, it is my favorite Aqua-inspired wallpaper.

10.5 Leopard
Complete with a revised, unified user interface and shiny new Dock, 10.5 broke the Aqua mold. As such, Leopard was the first version of OS X to break from the Aqua-themed wallpaper. It ushered in the 'space era' of OS X wallpapers, which was used heavily in the new Time Machine interface as well.

The 'no new features' mantra for Snow Leopard didn't ban a new wallpaper, thankfully. This starscape is still one of my favorites.

Throwback (gipzo) Mac Os X
The server version of Snow Leopard came with its own unique wallpaper that is a real treat:

10.7 Lion
Lion kept up the space theme, this time showing off the Andromeda galaxy. The space nerd in me likes the idea, but the execution of this one leaves dead-last on my list of favorites.

10.8 Mountain Lion
Just like Snow Leopard before it, with Mountain Lion, Apple opted to clean up and revise the existing theme as opposed to changing directions for what would be a less-impactful release of OS X.

Mavericks marked the beginning of Apple's 'California location' naming scheme for Mac releases. The wave depicted looks as intimidating as the ones in the famous surfing location.

Yosemite brought another UI refresh to the Mac, making things flatter and more modern. The wallpaper ushered in a new era based on … well … mountains.

Here's what some Spiceheads had to say:
'I had to think about it for a minute, but just a minute. Mega Man 2. The real heyday of Mega Man. It was one of those magical games where you could really sense how much the team really wanted to make it as good as it could be. Still one of gaming's most legendary soundtracks.'
–Zeor
'To throw all the way back, my parents had, and probably still own, an Atari 7800 I played a lot when I was little.'
–MikeM2403
Counter Strike 1.6 on PC. I was majorly competitive in that until I had to quit cold turkey or I would end up divorced.

Throwback (gipzo) Mac Os Download
'Super Mario RPG was my gateway into other RPGs, just as Street Fighter Alpha 3 really kicked off my love for fighting games, and Phantasy Star Online got me into online games and eventually MMOs. These three will always hold a special place for me and while there are better games, I will never have fonder memories than of these.'
–MrBadguy

'There are so many! Let's just say that to this day, I cannot walk past a Galaga or Ms. Pac-Man machine without dropping in a quarter.' Fight for the throne - level 1 - build 3 (standalone) mac os.
